Summary
Is it me or does anyone else think it's been a pretty disappointing year for movies? The Hurt Locker of course stole the show and although I have not seen the film as yet, the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are very positive and Roger Ebert loved it and called it one of the best films of the decade; over at IMDB it has a rating of around 8/10 and doesn't break into the IMDB top 250 though. Avatar has been a big movie of the year and it managed to do quite well on the night! Public Enemies and Terminator Salvation are considered by many as being two of the major disappointments of the year. I still can't believe that Drag Me to Hell didn't receive a single mention - I do feel that it was the biggest and best horror movie of the year. Of course, the Oscars have always been rather "pretentious" and should be taken with a pinch of salt! Just remember that Martin Scorsese only recently received an Oscar for The Departed - just think of all the incredible movies he has made that have never been considered "Oscar worthy". Anyway, let's hope that 2010 is a better year for movies.
